Humane Education Coordinator
Time Commitment:
- Daytime presentations scheduled on your time by you.
- Monthly Meetings with Education and Outreach committee.
- Monthly Meetings with Managing Director.
Responsibilities:
- Make presentations to the public concerning humane education, pet owner responsibility, pet/animal safety, and the mission of Colorado Puppy Rescue.
- Make appointments with area schools, organizations, or agencies that desire a presentation. This includes but is not limited to making any necessary appointments for a replacement to prevent cancellations and coordinating the date, time and place for all such visits.
- Give prepared presentation to designated audience.
- Bring a puppy to share with the audience.
- Supervise and handle animals that are taken to presentations.
- Transport and care for animals that are taken to presentations.
- Find and write educational material and games for your presentations.
- Ensure materials for presentations are accurate, presentation is professional in all aspects and handouts are available for the appropriate audience for each visit.
- Supervise and delegate to the Education and Outreach Committee.
- Schedule and Run Education and Outreach Committee Meetings.
Qualifications:
- Good public speaking skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Some background in education or working with children preferred.
Training:
- Volunteers must attend the general orientation Adoption Counselor Training.
- Volunteers will then be scheduled to first shadow the Executive or Managing Directors and then perform the presentation in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator.
- The training period will vary depending on the skills of the individual volunteer.

Event Photographer
Time Commitment:
- Attend at least one adoption event a month.
- Attend at least one intake per month,
- Attend fundraisers and social events.
Responsibilities:
- Take pictures of our adoption events, intakes, fundraisers and social events.
- Email or provide a disc of photos to Managing Director for photo gallery on CPR and other websites.
Qualifications:
- Must be experienced with candid shots and working with animals.
- Must use a digital camera.
- Should be experienced with cropping photos as well as composition when taking photos and should be familiar with uploading requirements for web display.
Training:
- Attend Volunteer Orientation.
Fundraising/ Grant Writing Committee Chair
Time Commitment:
- Attend Fundraisers as scheduled by you and your committee.
- Monthly Meetings with Fundraising and Grant Committee.
- Monthly Meetings with Managing Director.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and delegate to the Fundraising and Grant Writing Committee.
- Schedule and Run Fundraising and Grant Writing Committee Meetings.
- Organize (with the help of your committee) at least one fundraiser per month.
- Let Managing Director know of upcoming events to be posted on website or to foster/volunteers.
- Send out emails notifying volunteers of upcoming events.
- Work with Managing Director regarding Grants and monies needed.
- Supervise and delegate grant writing responsibilities to Committee.
Qualifications:
- Computer skills.
- Internet Access.

- A love of planning events.
- Able to organize and motivate groups of people.
- Experience planning fundraisers.
- Experience writing grants.
Training:
- Volunteer Orientation.
- Adoption Counselor Orientation.
Intake Station 1 . Puppy Watch and Care
Time Commitment:
- Arrive at 2:30pm . 3:00pm on Intake day.
- Stay until most of the puppies have left with their foster families.
Responsibilities:
- Attend intakes.
- Fill up water jugs for puppies and foster homes.
- Feeding and watering puppies
- Wash dog dishes
- Clean black crates and playpens to maintain sanitation and health of the puppies.
- Make the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.
- Make sure everyone who touches the puppies are "Clean and Sanitized."
- Help with Foster Puppy Pick up
- Various other duties as assigned

Training:
Intake Station 2 . Puppy Holders
Time Commitment:
- Arrive at 2:30pm . 3:00pm on Intake day.
- Stay until all of the puppies have been given shots and evaluated.
Responsibilities:
- Attend intakes.
- Walk puppies in from the van to the scale to weigh them.
- Hold the puppy for collar, photo, shots and exam.
- Walk the puppy to the holding area.
- Make the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies.
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.
- Make sure everyone who touches the puppies are "Clean and Sanitized."
- Help with Foster Puppy Pick up.
- Various other duties as assigned.

Training:
Intake Station 4/5 – Puppy Baths and Crate Cleaning
Time Commitment:
- Arrive at 2:30pm – 3:00pm on Intake day.
- Stay until most of the puppies have been sent home with foster families.
Responsibilities:
- Attend intakes.
- Brush and bathe puppies as needed.
- Clean, sanitize and re-paper the travel crates so that they will be ready for the fosters to take home.
- Make the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies.
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.
- Help with Foster Puppy Pick up.
- Various other duties as assigned.

Pre-event Load
Time Commitment:
- Usually 1-2 hours before an adoption event
Responsibilities:
- Load crates into the van,
- Meet and greet fosters.
- Load foster puppies into the van.
- Bathe puppies.
- Wash water buckets.
- Clean and reorganize the puppy room.
- Help make up Adoption Signs.
- Make the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies.
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.

Event Station 1- Greeter
Time Commitment:
- Arrive 1 hour to 45 minutes before adoption event.
- Stay to pack up your station at the end of the adoption event.
Duties:
- Set up Greeter Station Greet Adopters
- Have adopters sign in
- Answer Adopter's questions
- Manage the "sign in" list and call adopters in as needed.
- Act as a "Bouncer" for the adoption area.
Qualifications:
- Good communication skills
- Able to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Pleasant and professional voice.
Training:
- Attend orientation class
- Shadow a Greeter Mentor for one adoption event
Event Station 2- Puppy Posse (Passer and Care)
Time Commitment:
- Arrive 1 hour to 45 minutes before the event.
- Stay to pack up your station at the end of the event.
Responsibilities:
- Set up Event Station 2.
- Clean black crates to maintain sanitation and health of the puppies.
- Exercise, socialize, and feed the animals in kennel areas.
- Greets all visitors to their area.
- Helps with adopter questions and handling of animals.
- Explain the shelter’s adoption policies.
- Show adoptable animals to the public
- Help the public to choose an animal that is a good match to their lifestyles and abilities
- Assessment of a person’s ability to care for a particular pet (this assessment should be reported to the adoption counselor before the final decision is made)
- Introducing, explaining, and assisting with the application process
- Pass puppies off to Adoption Counselors.
- Receive puppies from adoption counselors and fosters.
- Making the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.
Qualifications:
- Ability and desire to handle and work with animals.

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the rescue’s policies and procedures.

- Attend orientation program.
- Shadow a Puppy Posse Mentor for 1 event.
Adoption Event Station 3 - Adoption Counselor
Time Commitment:
- Commit to volunteer at least 2 volunteer events per month.
- Arrive 1 hour to 45 minutes before the event.
- Stay to pack up your station at the end of the event.
Responsibilities:
- Act as our "senior" volunteers by being an example and "helping out" new volunteers.
- Maintain sanitary kennel environment by practicing good disease control protocol.
- Escort families and transport puppies to play area where you can discuss specific or general behavior issues.
- Screen potential adopters by asking questions and discussing the responsibilities that come with pet ownership, and overall making the best matches.
- Support CPR philosophies and policies inside and outside the rescue.
Qualifications:
- Must have volunteered at least 5 CPR adoption events and have experience with the other adoption event stations.
- Must have Volunteer Coordinator approval.
- A working knowledge of dog breeds and their behaviors.
- Physical ability and willingness to handle small and large puppies.
- Ability to work independently and as a group.
- Ability to take direction easily.
- Ability for continuous learning and to take constructive criticism.
- Ability to turn down potential adopters when it will not be a good match.
- Must be able to react quickly to avoid any mishaps between animals and people.
- Excellent ability to communicate with staff, other volunteers and the public in a polite, courteous, and tactful manner.
- A willingness to work hard, get dirty, and pitch in wherever needed is required.
- Ability to meet assignments promptly, reliably and with flexibility.
- Possess a genuine concern for the welfare of animals.
- Ability to refrain from allowing personal views and opinions from overshadowing or conflicting with Colorado Puppy Rescue's mission and purpose.
Training:
- Completion of Volunteer Orientation
- Completion of Adoption Counselor training
- Shadow an experienced adoption counselor for at least 2 events.
Adoption Event Station 4 . Adoption Session Assistant
Time Commitment:
- Commit to volunteer at least 2 volunteer events per month.
- Arrive 1 hour to 45 minutes before the event.
- Stay to pack up your station at the end of the event.
Responsibilities:
- Act as our "senior" volunteers by being an example and "helping out." new volunteers.

- Set up Event Station 5.
- Clean travel crates to maintain sanitation and health of the puppies.
- Exercise, socialize, and feed the animals in kennel areas.
- Greets all visitors to their area.
- Helps with adopter questions and handling of animals.
- Explain the shelter’s adoption policies.
- Receive puppies from Adoption Counselors.
- Transfer puppies to adopters after they have been through the adoption session.
- Take pictures of the adopters and their puppies for our photo album.
- Give the adopter an adopter bag.
- Making the staff aware of any aggressive behaviors that might occur with the puppies
- Make staff aware of any signs of illness.

Adoption Event Station 6- Event Floater
This position is set up for volunteers who can come to the event but will either be late or have to leave early. We'll stick you in where ever we need the most help when you arrive.
Fundraising/ Grant Writing Committee
Grass roots style. Table top fund-raisers, dog washes, candy sales, donation envelopes at work, pet photo contests, rummage sales, bake sales, etc. These are the type of fun and easy fund-raisers that help to get the word out about Colorado Puppy Rescue and raise some money, too.
Adopter/Alumni Meetup Committee
That's right! We're planning a BIG meet up. We need volunteers who love to plan and organize.
Education and Outreach Committee
Help us educate the community by visiting schools and representing CPR at community events. Participate in humane education programs as designated by Humane Education Coordinator, Have excellent public speaking skills and superb knowledge of Colorado Puppy Rescue policies and procedures, and the ability to relate to all audiences, from Kindergarten to senior citizens, Be dedicated to Colorado Puppy Rescue philosophies, Volunteers must be confident in working with children and handling pets at the same time, and must be willing to research for the presentation or activity.
Spay & Neuter Committee
While we try to save the current puppies, we need a plan for the future. We have to look at the BIGGER picture and approach the problem of pet overpopulation through spay and neuter. We need volunteers who would like to help with brainstorming ideas, implementing programs, and advertising the importance of spay and neuter.
